IHSA Head Start Hero
This award honors an individual or organization’s significant contributions as a consistent, strong, and tenacious Head Start advocate at the local or statewide level. The nominee for this award should have a demonstrated history of supporting and advancing the Head Start promise that every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Award specific criteria
Nominee must be an individual or organization that has demonstrated over time to be a strong, advocate for Head Start by -
- Being a strong and committed voice for Head Start and high-quality early childhood education.
- Working to improve or expand the delivery of services at the program or statewide level in a sustainable way, or
- Significant achievement through community service to Head Start and Early Head Start programs that has a positive impact upon our children, families and communities.
The nominee must submit responses for each of the following categories, in their entirety. Maximum point value for each category is indicated in parentheses.
